Parish Groups
In a world marked by increasing isolation and polarization, the church stands uniquely poised as an integration point for those seeking something better. Our shared belonging to the Lord Jesus offers a starting point for meaningful connection with others who also seek to live as people of faith, hope, and love. With an aim to foster community and personal growth, several Parish Groups have been formed, each with a distinctive flavor designed to meet the needs of parishioners’ varying seasons of life.
Bite-sized Bible Study
Would you like to study scripture more deeply, but have difficulty finding the time? Then grab a cup of coffee and join fellow parents of nursery and Sunday School-aged children for a team-led, 30-minute exploration of passages from selected books of the Bible. No preparation, keen discussion, and relevant application. The group gathers on Sundays, from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m., in the Memorial Room on the third floor of the Parish Hall. Nursery care for infants and toddlers, as well as supervised, age-appropriate activities for older children, are provided in the classrooms on the ground and first floor of the same building. For more information, contact parishioners
Julia Ainsley, Megan Murton or
Matthew Fredericks.
Going Deeper
Does your soul hunger for something more: a deeper life with God or a quieter trust? Going Deeper is an invitation to walk with others who are listening for that call. Meeting on alternating Tuesdays, at 6:30 p.m., participants will seek to expand their vision for the Christian life, engage in spiritual practices, and open themselves to the loving accountability of a committed band of fellow disciples. Not for the faint of heart, membership in this group will require a commitment to routine attendance, transparent self-honesty, and to the hard work of following Christ in everyday life. For more information, contact parishioner
John Murton or
Mother Tiffany Clark to learn more.
Grief Share
Are you mourning the loss of someone you love? Then join fellow parishioners of all ages and stages of life as they walk together through the process of navigating grief and moving towards hope. The group will gather on alternating Tuesdays, at 6:30 p.m., in the Memorial Room (Linthicum Hall / Third Floor). For more information, contact parishioner Amy Klett or Mother Tiffany Clark. Keeping Faith
Composed of parishioners further on in life, this group gathers in each other's homes for a pot-luck dinner, a brief presentation, and facilitated discussion about the ongoing cultivation of one’s life with God. For more information, contact parishioners John Gilstad or
Phil Morrison.
Light on the Hill
Seeking spiritual refreshment and connection with like-minded believers? This group of young couples and single people gathers for a monthly dinner, Bible study, and occasional outings in an effort to maintain faithfulness to God amidst career demands in a changing world. For more information, contact parishioners Kaleigh Ballinger or Kelsey Carlson.
Prime Timers
Join fellow prime timers for a monthly dinner party in Linthicum Hall followed by a presentation on theology and worship. This fall, the four-part series will trace the history of The Book of Common Prayer. In the spring, participants will explore the relationship between theology and the arts, drawing on the personal reflections and creative expertise of individuals representing a variety of fields. For more information, contact parishioners Charisse Hiigel or Will Andersen.
Spiritual Life Ministry
“Lord, teach us to pray”: Do you yearn for deeper connection with God? Do you seek to listen to and communicate with God through prayer? Christ Church’s Spiritual Life Ministry offers space for participants to learn about and practice various forms of contemplative prayer, including the Daily Office. Meetings will be held during the holy seasons of Advent and Lent. No advance preparation is necessary. For more information, contact parishioner Molly Peacock.
The Gathering
Full of warmth, wisdom, and transparency, this group of (mostly) women meets monthly at a parishioner’s home in Wesley Heights. Following an hour of fellowship over hors d’oeuvres provided by group members and beverages provided by the host, the group then engages in facilitated conversation about life, spirituality, and evolving into the image of God. For more information, contact parishioners
Janis Buchanan or
Evie Rooney.
Thursday Morning Bible Study: Autumn 2025
Parishioners of all ages and stages of life are invited to a discursive, interactive study of the book of Acts. This term, we will read, pray, and talk our way through Acts. Acts is our origin story. It tells us who we are and how we came to be—and it shows us how we too are to be and do that identity two millennia later.
Acts is the second in a two-volume history of Jesus and the early Jesus movement. To understand the author's aims well, we will begin by reading the opening and closing chapters of the first volume: Luke's Gospel. No preparation is required to join meaningfully in each fortnight's discussion. However, your own study will deepen your understanding of and appreciation for the text.

New Paragraph
Women’s Bible Study
What is the backstory on the “suffering servant” portrayed in Handel’s Messiah? How do we hold together God’s compassionate call to justice with God’s judgement of those who oppress others? Part lovers’ quarrel and part socio-political commentary, the book of the prophet Isaiah invites us into the complex, yet magnificent story of God and his people – past, present, and future.
This Fall, join Mother Tiffany Clark and a diverse group of engaging women for interactive discussion, in-depth examination, and personal application of sacred scripture. A brief introduction to Isaiah and bi-weekly reading guides are provided. The schedule and reading plan is as follows:
Sept. 8 Isaiah 1-2; 4-5:7; 6
Sept. 22 Isaiah 7-9:7; 10:1-4; 11-12:6
Oct. 6 Isaiah 24–27; 29:9-30:18; 35
Oct. 20 Isaiah 36-42:9; 51-52:12
Nov. 3 Isaiah 42:10-46
Nov. 17 Isaiah 49-50; 52:13-55
Dec. 1 Isaiah 56-61
Dec. 15 Isaiah 62-66
