Worship Services Information

Eucharist (or Lord's Supper, Communion, the Mass)
Taken from the Greek word for "thanksgiving", the Eucharist is the celebration of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, who we confess to be the Son of God. It is a thanksgiving meal that all baptized Christian's are welcome to, regardless of faith tradition. As a community of faith, we believe that through our thanksgiving to God, we are called to be bearers of this thanksgiving in the world we live in. We believe that Jesus instituted the eucharist "on the night when he was betrayed" and commanded his disciples to "do this" in remembrance of him (see 1 Cor. 11:23-26, Mark 14:22-25).

Morning Prayer
Rooted in the Jewish pattern of prayer and the Christian monastic practice of prayers or "hours", Morning Prayer is a service of prayers, canticles, lessons and Psalms. Practiced primarily through the week as a brief, spoken service, our Sunday Morning Prayer service includes a full choir and a sermon.

Choral Evensong
Evensong is one of the official services of the Anglican church - found in the British Isles in the worship of the Church of England, the Scottish Episcopal Church, the Church in Wales and the Church of Ireland. We have been using this beautiful service at Christ Church since 1991. It was first published in 1549, in an order drawn up by Thomas Cranmer, and was later revised in the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. Choral Evensong is the name given to the service when the majority of the service is sung by the choir to musical settings.
